Jay Llave, a fellow with extensive Rotary experience, works with Philip Barker of the Lakeshore Charitable Foundation to deliver school supplies and other necessities to the remote area in which Bay Bay Central School is located. On May 10, 2018, he gave us an update.

Some of the funds RTW donated to Lakeshore Charitable Foundation for use at Bay Bay Central School were earmarked for building a draining ditch.  During the rainy season, monsoons would cause extensive flooding, making parts of the school unusable.  The new drainage ditch has made a huge improvement.

More recently, Jay was part of a contingent of Canadians who delivered 60 gently used laptops to the school for their computer lab.  It took 40 hours to reach their destination, and the lab was set up over the Easter weekend.  Ten of these laptops were sent to Rizal National High School for the use of their 1200 students.  At the high school, the laptops will be loaded with software to support learning English to promote the school's goal of a homework club that will help students to develop university level English literacy.

As a final update, it was noted that Philip Barker is partnering with Days For Girls to help meet the needs of the girls in this community.
