What an exciting day May 31st was as several of our club members served up food to nearly 1000 hungry people at the 2016 Mini-Olympics for special needs kids in Etobicoke, staged by a number of schools in Etobicoke, led by Father John Redmond.

We also contributed financially to help with expenses. This is part of our vision to “ignite potential in youth”.

Athletes participated in various contests, motivational games and activities while discovering new abilities and skills for the future. They had a wonderful time!

Thanks to all the club members who came out!

In an atmosphere of respect and acceptance, the athletes compete against one another with motivational games and activities that benefit them physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. Through sharing their gifts, the games provide students with opportunities to discover not only new abilities and talents but their voices as well. The students improve their lives, and in turn, the lives of everyone they touch.

Annual Special Mini-Olympics to continue building awareness of the importance of inclusivity and acceptance of all, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hosted by Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School and Regional Arts Centre, Michael Power/St. Joseph High School, Brebeuf College, and Bishop Allen Academy.
